I thought it would be interesting to create a general discussion thread about the 2030s. Share any predictions you have for the 2030s here!
These are some of my predictions:
* The UK's plan to ban new petrol and diesel cars in 2030 will cause a huge amount of uproar, resulting in violent protests on the streets and a proposal to push back the date to 2050. The year 2030 isn't that far off in the grand scheme of things, its just over 9 years away. Even though I expect the UK Government will launch a huge advertising campaign during 2029 and into 2030 itself, I still believe the transition will catch a lot of people off guard and many won't be happy about it.
* Ivanka Trump will be the US President at the start of the decade and the first woman to be elected President of the United States. Donald Trump will win the Republican nominee for the 2024 Election and be elected as President, with his supporter base growing as a result of conservative America's backlash to Joe Biden's progressive policies. I think it's inevitable that one of Trump's children will run for the Presidency at some point and I think Ivanka will be the one most likely to do so. She is also Trump's favourite child, so i'm expecting that Trump will heavily push for her to be his successor at the end of his second term. She will win the 2028 US Election and be the POTUS during the early 2030s.
* NASA's plan to send humans to Mars will be a success, however I have a gut feeling that it won't go 100% to plan (especially on arrival). I think it will happen in 2034.
* Cable-TV will finally hit the dust by 2030. I think it will still be in existence in some form in 2030 itself, however its customer base will be so small that it will no longer be sustainable or profitable as a medium to continue going forward. The broadcast rights for all sporting competitions (e.g NBA, Premier League) will be on streaming services, with the odd game or two shown on free-to-air television.
* Honestly, I don't believe the music industry will be too dissimilar to what it is like now. Streaming will continue to reign supreme, and streaming services such as Spotify, Amazon Music etc. will still be in existence and will continue to be the most popular music platforms. As for music itself, I've really got no idea what 2030s music will be like. I believe hip-hop/rap will continue to be the most popular genre of music during the early 2030s, however I actually believe it will suffer a similar fate to rock and it will start to decline in prominence during the mid-late 2030s.
