I know this is the second "doom and gloom" COVID-19 thread that I've created today, but many people seem to have the impression that the virus will be eradicated in late 2021 and life will suddenly return to how it was pre-pandemic. I'm sorry, but I personally don't find it realistic at all, especially in a country as dire as the United States. Remember, 68 million people voted for Donald Trump in this year's election. There's going to be a significant percentage of the American population who will refuse to receive a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

At the moment it has less to do with willingness and more to do with how slow the vaccines are being administered. We have the same problem in Canada. In Ontario we vaccinated nobody between December 24 to 28 because holidayzzz meanwhile 100+ people died everyday. It is extremely frustrating.

A lot of companies are not requiring their employees to be vaccinated, so I can easily see this lasting - at least in the U.S. - for another few years. And of course, dumb Americans (of which, evidently, there are tens of millions) will use this as a raison d'etre to elect a new GOP loon as president and the train wreck will continue to pick up pace.
