I didn't like most of the music that was on the charts during my teens, but I was always a big fan of indie-pop. I started to get into it when I was 14 after I first heard "Up Up Up" by the Givers on the soundtrack of FIFA 12, and after that, I really started to enjoy the indie-pop songs that entered the charts not long afterwards, such as Boy & Bear's "Southern Sun", Imagine Dragons' "It's Time" and Of Monster & Men's "Mountain Sound".
Now that quite some time has passed, i'm definitely starting to feel more nostalgic and appreciative of the indie-pop/hipster sub-culture from the early-mid 2010s. I'm glad that it defined my high school years.

Tbh no, that sound hasn’t really entirely expired yet. A lot of it felt felt very vanilla, almost like generic background music in clothing store to me. But I’m sure there is decent stuff out there.

I still listen to a bit of the folkier stuff like Of Monster & Men, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, etc. I miss the hipsters.

I always hated the grunge era growing up living in it........ as time went on I took it back ... the 2010s hipster era is THE WORST ERA of all time lol Crappy Coffee shop with one light bulb hanging down with a fake imagine dragons or Black keys song......... yeah no let that era rot in hell

It definitely became more generic towards the end of its lifespan in the mainstream, but the indie-pop releases from about 2011-2013 were more innovative. These were/are some of my favourites: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}

I've never actually been into The Black Keys, funnily enough. "Lonely Boy" and "Gold on the Ceiling" bring me back unpleasant memories of my first year of high school, but even then, their songs have simply never done anything for me.

I don’t know what you classify this. But it’s a guilty pleasure of mine from the early 2010s era

It’s going to be depressing as f if by mid 2021 or 2022 pop culture is almost exactly like now or 2019-2020.
