Late last year, the Professors/Historians and Historical Authors at Ivy League and Oxbridge University took part in a survey by CBT therapy and self-care app Bloom ranking on what they believe were the craziest years in American History. 2020 ranks at no.8 worst year in US history. Behind the years of 1929, 1968 and 2001. Do you guys(and girls) agree with the list? Or do you disagree with it? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9096543/2020-EIGHTH-worst-year-live-history.html

I heavily disagree with 2001 being seven on that list. 2001 pretty much had only one paradigm-shifting world event that everyone knows about: 9/11. 2020 however had MULTIPLE. COVID-19, the brink of US having an all-out nuclear war with Iran, worldwide racial unrest, unprecedented hurricanes and wildfires, etc.

Seems odd to have 2001 rank above any year during World War 2.

aside from 9/11 2001 was a great year aside from the boring part of the first 6 1/2 months

I've recently seen on not just this resource but from different people or other resources that 2001 is highly regarded as the worst year for America simply because of 9/11. While I do agree that it is the worst event to ever happen on American soil, it doesn't make the entirety of 2001 such a terrible year. I honestly think that America during any point of the 1930s was the worst time because of the Great Depression which America suffered far worse than the aftermath of 9/11. In fact, I would say that last year is a contender for being the worst year for America with corona coming around, impacting the economy heavily and seeming that normal life never existed that year except for the first two months.

I agree with everything apart from 1929, 1962 and 2001.
1929 was only bad if you were involved in stocks, it was actually a fine year economically for the VAST majority of americans. It wasn't until fall 1930 when banks started to fail in large numbers that lead to the great depression (this was linked to the stock market crash back in 1929 but, that's not my point).
1962 had the Cuban Missile Crisis, even though this caused a lot of fear and paranoia, it wasn't much worse compared to some other years during the height of the cold war era. Also, do consider that this was only one event that only lasted a short amount of time too.
2001, I definitely disagree with the most. Unlike 2020 though, we could still actually go outside and live normally. People were a lot more optimistic in 2001 too, especially compared to 2020. Also, 2001 was a pretty good year for pop culture (specifically the latter months). Plus, 9/11 was one event (a very impactful & tragic one) but, 2020 had tragedy after tragedy (with most of them being very impactful, especially covid-19).

2020 was worse than 2001 in every way. Nothing was redeemable about 2020, aside 4 maybe some music. 2001 outside of 9/11, was a pretty kick ass, laidback year in terms of pop culture. 2001 (skipping Jan - late May 2001 AKA Long in the tooth era ) and 9/11 is a top 5 tier year of the 2000s and pop culture in general. There is no denying this, you were constantly being bombarded by new Sh*t, Sum 41, Michelle Branch, Shakira, New Britney, Neptunes......... Gamecube, Xbox, Grand theft auto, lord of the rings, Harry Potter......... ETC ETC and ETC I was there LIVE as well as Slashpop and slowpoke and Jaydawg .. .it was simply..........amazing

Seems odd to have 2001 rank above any year during World War 2. Or all of the 1930s in general. Not trying to knock 2001 nor the event, but there are other years as bad if not worse than 2001 as a whole.
