I am back searching that site with a plethora of history: newspapers.com Today’s subject is of members of the Greatest Generation and older’s criticism of their Silent and Baby Boomer children’s taste in music during the 1950s and 1960s. As usual with these threads I’ll (try) to update more when I’m not lazy enough to clip more. The last article is horrifying. Like something you would see on r/askreddit about crazy parents. I think it was meant to be satire but I have a bad feeling that was probably what actually happened during the summer of 1966 with some families after John Lennon’s comment was taken out of context.

Interesting to read. These articles prove that the whole "rock is dead" theory is far from a new thing, people have been calling for its demise for as long as the rock 'n roll invasion of the mid 1950s. The mindset never really went away. It's just that it subsided each time rock kept on re-inventing itself, such as when grunge took the mantle from hair-metal.
