2017
This is when the 2010s went (and thankfully temporarily) dark and edgy. 2016 had a bright 2014/2015-ish energy to it still before it's 4th quarter, 2017 on the other hand... Yikes. 2018 and 2019 were much better.

Some point between mid 2018 to late 2019 is when it jumped the shark, it felt like nothing was changing enough. It just felt like bland core 2010s culture was frozen and slightly faded the same as 2020 and early 2021.
I’ll give mid 2015 to early 2018 credit as being annoying but slightly more original and changeful.

2015 because that’s when Trump came into politics. 2 be fair music, TV shows & movies had a dark aesthetic since around 2010 or 2011 with Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Adele, etc. 2015 was when that darkness in pop culture got obnoxious with The Weeknd, 50 Shades of Gray, etc. A lot of late 2010s trends can be traced back 2 2015 such as Travis Scott, depressing/slow trap/music, certain fashion, political correctness, SJW’s vs Alt Right, etc. 2015 is 1 of the worst, overrated & most boring years of the 2010s. Mid 2010s culture already felt long in the tooth in 2015. Silento “Watch Me Whip” was annoying. Only positives about that year was getting my driver’s license & senior year of high school which all happened in the 2nd 1/2 of 2015. Other than that, 2015 was forgettable. This is unpopular, but I find 2014 & 2016 better, more memorable & more exciting than the snooze fest that 2015 was. 2015 still feels recent 2 me. I’d argue it’s more like 2021 than 2009. 2015 is the peak of light bulb in coffee shop with 12 hipsters hanging around, ugh have to take a shower LOL C R I N G E 2015 was BEYOND boring and BEYOND long in the tooth, the BLANDEST year of the 2010s by far, Star Wars coming out was cool, thats about it lol I also hated how everyones home looked like this, some stores started adapting this look as well

I remember high school classmates hyped that movie up & enjoyed it. I think indie or hipster music & hipster was @ it’s peak in 2015. Luckily that was declining in 2016 or 2017. Kanye's house ^ this is also when Yeezy season's muted color tone was gaining steam. So many stores changed their interior to that. I remember HGTV had so many homes that were now "minimalist" it's cool when done in moderation, but to have your whole home look like that.......blank, sad, empty LMAO just no I was so glad when Hipster ended, it was worse then living thru peak grunge era

LOL. Like u said, minimalist in moderation is cool, but 4 everything 2 be minimalist without a pop of color is unacceptable. Even 2 much clashing bright colors & designs all @ once looks tacky. I like a balance. I’m also glad hipster ended. It got annoying & obnoxious in 2015. I bet it was worse than peak grunge. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think now in 2021, muted colors, minimalism & pastels r still going strong. I believe the popularity of bedroom pop & LoFi music r encouraging that. I’m waiting 4 skeuomorphism & bold colors 2 come back so the 2020s look alive with a bold personality like the 2000s & not soulless, dark, depressing, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead zombie like the 2010s. I’m waiting 4 a backlash against 2010s aesthetics. I’d be fine if skeuomorphism & minimalism coexisted with 1 another 2 create a balance or if skeuomorphism dominated the 2020s like it did in the 2000s. I’d be disappointed if minimalism, pastels & muted colors dominated the 2020s like the 2010s. I have good news for you, muted colors are out, colors bright colors and Skeumorphism is back. It has been back for awhile, Logos are starting to resemble their 2000s selves again. Not all logos, but some. While some are moving to flat design. It's a mix. vanschneider.com/blog/skeuomorphism-is-making-a-comeback/

2016 when music got really shitty with trop house and edm-ish production elements in pop, memes started being everywhere and got all annoying and meta, politics got dark and divisive, youtube content started feeling soulless and blatantly corporate.
