Rank the Summer of the 2010s

I agree, maybe too much hype. People hyped up summer 2009 as the summer of love (ew lol) and said that summer 2010 sucked in comparison. Summer 2016 gets hype because that was before Trump’s election, inauguration, presidency and almost everyone played Pokémon Go. Drake’s “One Dance,” Justin Bieber “Sorry,” “If we could turn back time,” Rihanna’s “Work,” and JT were all over the radio. Trolls and Suicide Squad movies were promoted. Finding Dory was a cute movie. I turned 18 and graduated high school that May. Summer 2016 was fun, bittersweet and special personally with graduation parties, hanging with friends, surfing, state fairs and never seeing them everyday anymore. Now at almost 23 years old, I cringe at myself from then and don’t want to associate with teenager me. I guess people forgot the Pulse Nightclub shooting, toxic politics, natural disasters and celebrity deaths. It’s the rose colored glasses. People couldn’t wait for 2016 to end as it was going on, so I’m surprised people are warming up to that year. Unpopular opinion, but I believe 2016 was better than 2017. 

I view 2016 like 2006 in that those summers were the last classic summers of their respective decades. In the future, people will come up with a late 2016 shift meme.
