Wow 2006 was quite transitional! 😳 😱 I wonder if 2006 would make the top three transformative years of the 2000s. 2006 was a bridge of that 2004-2005 vibe and 2007-2008 vibe. I am just going to link some videos to DRIVE my data home lol - THE FINAL moments of The WB on air( it was really sad to many teens that this network ended)That 70s show final episode( an emotional scene where Eric returns for the last episode) That is it no more that 70s show on the air guys!Final moments of Malcolm in the Middle on the air PS3 launch, we all know why this was big loland the music................Oh and by the way, I stayed back one year so I was able to experience the 2006-2007 school year instead of 2005-2006 being my last. and was able to see all the changes from a teen point view LIVE as it happened.2006 ended the old school era and the began the modern era. Even as a kid, I noticed the different, progressive vibe throughout 2006 with how life became more tech and social media focused. As crazy, silly or funny as this sounds, I felt as if we crossed an invisible barrier in 2006 like a “There’s no going back now. Once we cross it, that’s final.” type of feeling. Bush hate was at its peak, max and out of control this year. I remember hearing about Democrats taking over in the November 2006 midterm elections. Little did we know that was a sign to come 2 years later. Cell phone obsessed teen became a thing around this time I bet or it was more in our faces. I’m sure teenagers had cellphones since at least 2003 or 2004. Motorola Razr in late 2004 was a huge deal. I remember stores advertising the shit out of it and seeing adds everywhere in malls. 2006 was firmly web 2.0 with probably no traces of web 1.0 left. The first smartphone, Blackberry, came out in late 2006. Malcom & The Middle, 70s show, WB endings are sad lol. I felt the rush, excitement and energy of the PS3 launch. It must’ve been ground breaking with 7th generation taking off and online gaming becoming a thing. That must’ve killed or sealed the death of living room culture which was alive in the early 2000s and hanging by a thread in the mid 2000s.

I know exactly what you are saying LOL I felt that invisible walk into the portal feeling. I have said this before but I feel Summer 2006 was suppose to be the end of the 2000s but it got a stimulus package last min and didn't end until 2008. While Summer 2006 was happening in real time things felt like the 2000s were over, all of the classic things like That 70's show and Malcolm were Over. It was like damn thats it ? Then comes September and music is getting more digital and dark and The WB ends........... That ending is so FINAL FINAL FINAL they really hammered it in lol very sad and I HATED The CW it was not the same at all and had no personality. We crossed the path of no return in 2006 lol I was @ the Mall when those systems launched they hype level was over 10X lol even tho the ps3 sucked for a few years the hype was there along with the wii when it came out. There were lines outside Garden Mall Plaza in Jersey reaching the highway lmao I remember that same song I linked Say it right playing like a million times that night in the mall lol That stupid ATV game was the demo they had on the ps3.

2006 is my childhood to-a-tee, it would undoubtedly be the year that best defines it. I honestly can't think of a better example of a year that was the ultimate culmination of so many of the trends that significantly defined my childhood. Emo, flip phones, Myspace, portable CD players, pop-punk; they were all relevant to some extent in 2006.
I was 7 at the time. So many of my favourite childhood movies came out that year; "Monster House", "Happy Feet" (which was the first movie I ever watched at the cinemas), "RV", "Over The Hedge", "Night at the Museum", to name a few. Video-game wise, I spent a lot of my free-time playing the PS2 and my Gameboy Advance SP. I used to get up at 6am every morning so that I could play my Gameboy Advance SP for an hour or so before I had to get ready for school. Some of my favourite shows at the time were "Spongebob", "Jimmy Neutron", "Kim Possible" and "Ned's Declassified". "Atomic Betty" was a huge guilty pleasure show for me. I would only watch it when my Mum or Dad weren't around, which was usually really early in the morning when they were still in bed. 2006 was the year that I went on a plane for the first (and so far only) time. My Mum and I went on a holiday down to Tasmania in October that year, to see my Uncle and Nanna. It's a year i'm hugely nostalgic for and I still can't get over the fact that it is now 15 years ago.

Another notable development: 2006 is when those Disney pop idols got into full swing, like Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and others.

To be honest, it wasn't until about late 2007 that I first heard of the Jonas Brothers if I remember correctly, but both "Hannah Montana" and "High School Musical" were huge by the end of 2006 . Pop-rock was so easily marketable during the 2000s though. The breakthrough of Avril Lavigne really set the scene for the emergence of many of those "teen-rock"-orientated artists during the later years of the decade, it's no surprise that Disney and Nickelodeon eventually cashed-in on the trend. Nickelodeon also had "The Naked Brothers Band" during the late 2000s as well.

They over did it.

I personally look at 06 as forgettable, but Timbaland help me remember specific days and mixtap era Wayne. Naruto was in it's Chunin Exams arc.

Yeah Fox really messed up getting rid of everything that made the 2000s 2000s on that network LOL That 70s show I can understand as it had nowhere to go left, but Malcolm......come on.... 2006 was the year of 2000s finales.

Didn’t That 70s Show start sucking in late 2005? I’m debating if 2006 or 2004 had more finales lol. Cartoon Network Powerhouse era, 1990s and early 2000s shows ended in 2004. It did Eric left in 2004 or 2005 I forget, they replaced him with Jon Heder. I compiled a list of every tv show that ended in 2006 lol Tv shows that ended in 2006That 70s show Malcolm in The Middle Bernie Mac Show Charmed The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius Chappelle show Meet the Barkers Justice League Unlimited Alias Lilo & Stich Everwood Invader Zim BET uncut Fear Factor Arrested Development ( didn't know that was still on in 2006 lol ) The Crocodile Hunter Diaries

That 70s Show doesn't appear in his credits anywhere.
