Cancel culture for the most part is just a term used by conservatives to justify racism and bigotry, I think sometimes it is kinda stupid but wouldn't worry about it that much.

I mean sure, more than anything it is a convenient boogeyman for the right and I’m usually the one around here trying to remind people of that. But that doesn’t mean it’s not real - the reality of cancel culture is it consists of a bunch of Twitter and tumblr keyboard warriors with not much going for them and way too much time on their hands. The combination of the two plus internet anonymity makes for a pack of vicious wolves looking for something to get mad at. It doesn’t mean we should take them seriously, but we also shouldn’t legitimize the behavior.

Cancel culture doesn't work half the time. The problem is however the mob mentality behind it. I saw the video, and what REALLY horrified me was the part where Lindsey discusses how the mob is DIRECTLY TARGETTING her allies just for being associated, saying "you're next", like a fucking horror villain. That's what modern keyboard warriors have become, fucking horror villains praying on others just for taking certain things out of context. It's not even that they actually want justice, it's that they want to take down ANYBODY they don't like.

Cancel culture is getting pretty ridiculous. It's like you have to be this perfect person who has never done a single mistake ever.
It makes sense to cancel someone like Harvey Weinstein (a genuinely terrible person) but, it gets silly when someone is getting canceled for a tweet they did in 2009 or for just having a different political opinion.
