When I say early 2020 I mean the first quarter of 2020, so January to March. Both pop culturally and personally, does it feel distant to you?
To me it does and I kind of miss it despite hating it at the time lol. Don't even get me started on 2019.

Most of the first quarter of 2020 was pre quarantine, before COVID got in full swing, pre Biden’s election & inauguration and pre PS5 release. I was in community college and was driving the same car from 2016. I had a job. It was a year before my mom got our house repainted, bathroom and patio done. It was months before we got a new front door and new blinds. I can’t say much changed musically or in terms of gaming, TV and movies. I’m a similar person to then, just more evolved. First quarter of 2020 was the last time that felt pure late 2010s even if a lot of 2010s franchises ended in 2019, but some ended in 2020 too. I’d say yes the first quarter of 2020 feels distant. People were optimistic for a new decade.

People were optimistic for a new decade. I think even some aspects of the pop culture feels distant. Remember, this was a time where the movie "Uncut Gems" was everywhere, Pop Smoke was still alive for most of it and dropped a new mixtape in February, people were rocking Juice WRLD's music hard since it was so shortly after he passed away... I wouldn't say it was pure late 2010s pop culturally because TikTok was already huge and had its force in pop culture (though not quite as much as now). That bouncy/melodic trap was already everywhere as apposed to that 2017/18-era trap. NY Drill music was booming more than ever, especially after Pop Smoke passed. Late 2019/Early 2020 feels more half/half but it's 2010s-ness is more pronounced now due to it being pre-COVID.

I kinda hesitated putting early 2020 as pure late 2010s because of Tik Tok being a force and some or most major 2010s franchises over. I think early 2019 was the last pure late 2010s period. Late 2019-early 2020 seems half n half 2010s.

We didn't have COVID-19 and the surrounding reactions (mask mandates, social distancing, etc), the Biden presidency, or major movie releases on streaming services, so yeah, it definitely does feel distant despite heavy 2010s influences (like the BLM resurgence or "cancel culture") which still persist today.
Early 2020 feels more late 2010s than mid-2020 up to now.

It really felt like living in a ticking time bomb back then. I knew, listening to "Life is Good" back in January 2020 that it was about to not be. I couldn't accept at the time though that it would be as bad as it ended up being and that I'd have to deal with what I had to deal with on a personal level.

Maybe a tiny bit. Who would've thought that the pandemic would change everything.

Yes, very early 2020 still had good vibes leftover from late 2019 (a great time)
After that it all went to hell

A lot of personal and heartbreaking things happened to me in Mid 2021... That's why Early 2020 feels distant 😔
