The late 2020s have been brought up in a number of posts recently, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a topic for them and we can share our predictions for the late 2020s in this thread.
One day, we can look back on our predictions and see how right (or wrong) we were.
These are my predictions:
* I think we will see a lot of retrospective documentaries and movies released during this time which will look back on the COVID-19 pandemic. We still can't fully comprehend just how significant of a change the pandemic has been to our society, as we're still living through it. However, in 2028, when it will have been 8 years since the W.H.O declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic, I'd imagine that there will be a bit of fascination to relearn about the impacts that the pandemic had on the world and people's lives. People will one day look back on the pandemic similarly to how we currently perceive both World Wars.
* Electric-charging stations for cars will be standardised. By 2027, they will likely be as common as existing petrol/gas stations in major cities and urban areas.
* Kamala Harris will be the US President in 2027 and 2028 (Joe Biden will be a one-term President, but the Democrats will win in 2024), however she will lose the 2028 US Election to a Republican.
* Emo, flip phones and Myspace will be the biggest retro trends that the youth will be nostalgic for, expect to see emo experience another revival in the mainstream around that time. Late 2000s nostalgia will be a thing during the last few years of this decade, however, it will mainly be centered around emo/scene. '80s nostalgia will still be big, as will nostalgia for the early 2000s. Despite the fact that most of the 1990s will be well over 30 years old by the late 2020s, I still can't see them being the decade that people will be most nostalgic for. I think '90s nostalgia will play out similar to how '70s nostalgia has.
* Gen Alpha will start to make a name for themselves on social media around this time. The late 2020s will be when the "Gen Alpha" label enters into the mainstream and public consciousness.
* QR Codes will still be used for shops and businesses.
* In terms of music, I think we will see a new form of EDM or electropop take over the charts during the mid and late 2020s; 2027-2029 will be the peak of it. I agree with @bchris02, I think party and dance-themed music will make a resurgence into the Top-40 once it appears as though the pandemic is over.
