Has anyone else noticed that there has been a bit of a resurgence in horror movies this year?
The highest grossing film of 2021 in the US at the moment is A Quiet Place Part II, while there are also two other horror movies currently sitting within the Top-10 highest-grossing films for the year; the newest "Conjuring" movie, and a film known as Spiral.
There have also been several other horror films which have come out within the past few months, such as The Seventh Day, 616 Wilford Lane and Those Who Wish Me Dead.
I've seen a lot of new horrors being advertised on TV lately, and there seems to be more new ones being released than what there were last year and back in 2019. What are your thoughts on this?

Idk, horror movies were pretty big in the 2010s, it's not a new wave imo.
Anabelle, IT 1&2, babadook, midsummer, a quiet place, as above so bellow, a crap ton of zombie movies, sinister 1&2&3, happy death day 1&2, it follows, and don't forget the sh*tload pf paranormal activity spinoffs, those were huge.
I do not think it's a "resurgence" more like a continuation of the trend.

I agree that horror was generally pretty popular during the 2010s, however I don't remember there being quite as many new horror films (at least not as many successful ones as what there had been prior) being released between 2018 to 2020. There's definitely been more advertised and released to the cinemas over the past few months or so.

I partially agree with 10slover, but in my opinion, I consider the late 2010s the start of the horror movie resurgence, and even more specifically, 2017. In that year, two movies that gained lots of attention and praise were It and Get Out. This was followed by A Quiet Place in 2018, and It Part 2 in 2019. These all received critical acclaim and lots of popularity. The early-mid 2010s by contrast did not as many prominent horror movies, barring stuff like Unfriended. And they certainly didn't receive the same level of acclaim. And in contrast, the mid-2000s had Saw, Hostel, and Freddy vs Jason.

Worst aspects of early and mid 10s cinema
