I thank @johntitor for inspiring me to make this thread. I wonder what the trends, themes and colors will be in for early 2020s music videos. I am noticing blue and green reminiscent of mid 2000s, so maybe mid 2000s nostalgia is bubbling. Early 2000s nostalgia is also prevalent with the fashion. I also notice pink and gray colors in many music videos. Hopefully the real early 2020s era of fall 2021-winter 2022/2023 is another renaissance in music videos. It would be great if the 2020s were a renaissance in music videos.

I don't know, all the music videos from this year have been quite boring, with some few exceptions.
I think early 2020s mvs will be defined by the muted colors and "moody" (urgh) aesthetics. Basically an extension of late 10s mvs styles
I noticed that vibrant colors are gradually coming back, slowly replacing the weird, low-contrast, aesthetic that was so inescapable in the 2010s.

Yeah you are right about this year’s music videos. I am also thinking the early 2020s will continue the late 2010s elements, but hopefully add on unique elements. Thank goodness vibrant colors are coming back because pop culture needs that.

I do miss the days when mvs had strong color hues. Late 1990s-Early 2010s mvs for the most had high saturation/high contrast look. If mvs nowadays had the colorful vibrancy/high contrast look of the 2000s combine with the neon (also known as the bisexual lighting) lighting technique mvs of today, it would look absolutely amazing. Candy to the viewers eyes.

Yup, i think the early 10s were a very colorful time for mvs, i noticed music videos from that time have a different "aesthetic" to them, they have this weird green/cyan (?) Filter over them. By 2013 you could see the low-contrast, muted colors videos popping up everywhere, by 2014 most videos had that look we all know today. It's less common today, some music studios are starting to use vibrant colors and high contrast again. The mcu movies used to have that low-contrast aesthetic, but they started using more vibrant colors overtime. Endgame looked very vibrant. I can see the low-contrast aesthetic being associated with the 2010s in the future, since it was so popular during that time and then it (slowly) died.

Here's my example: Late 1990sIn this video, the cinematography had a high saturation and almost high contrast. 2018 In this video, you see the colorful lighting called bisexual lighting. Definitely one of my favorite videos in the last 5 years. If you combine that look altogether, It would look incredible
