I mean, the early 2010s aren't ALL bad I really dig this particular version of Android's look, which is from 2011 It honestly does look more like something from 2007-2008 honestly than 2011, when flat design was beginning to take over.

I REALLY don't want to turn this into an aesthetic moodboard All I can say is that modern corporate oversimplified aesthetics are fucking trash 2000s aesthetics for life

I remember seeing the flaming Thrasher logo everywhere in 2017-19. I don't really see those often nowadays. The late 2010s were really obsessed with logos.

Yeah, I hate how simplified and minimal this era is; they abused minimalism in the late 2010s. It's also a time when nostalgia and sequels hit new lows in the movie and tv industry. TELL ME ABOUT IT. We still see the effects of this now. I literally got an ad for Friends: The Reunion when I was watching YouTube, which is like, one of the biggest events of this year. It's literally based around nostalgia. We're also getting this with all the Disney live-action remakes that have been coming out regularly since 2014, especially of films like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan. Pixar is also making lots of sequels, though that has been more of a trend of the 2010s in general rather than just the late 2010s. They still abuse minimalism now, the new Pringles and Windows logos come to mind. I was HOPING for a backlash when we got to the 2020s, but the minimalism trend only got worse. It's fucking weird to me how there's been like, no real 2010s backlash in the 2020s. I'm still missing the hell out of late 2000s glossy/flashy design, when logos actually took effort to make. I mean, just compare this Windows Vista logo from 2007 With this Windows 11 logo just released this year We've come a VERY long way...(sarcasm)

Fuck 2017 to mid 2018. They can suck my dick. I honestly am not a fan of any year from 2016 to the present much. Even 2011 to 2015 are iffy to me.

In terms of graphic design, I do agree with the OP on the minimalism/corporate art styles being so oversaturated. But this is been happening since the mid-2010s with Windows 8 and iOS 7 imo. I just feel like that after Windows 8 and iOS 7 were released back in '13, almost EVERY company on the face of the planet (I'm exaggerating of course) started abusing it to hell. And now in this COVID era, I think more people are finally realizing the corporations' lame schemes of staying safe with things like this. And sadly, I don't think it'll end anytime soon.

Its not overnight change but a first step.

What kept the era less boring is the spacey and cloudy rap trend of the time:

I dunno, 2011 and 2012 to an extent still strike me as mainly skeuomorphic, and that doesn't look like something from 2007 to me at all lol. Flat design seemed to take over in 2013 after Windows 8 and iOS 7 came out. Others started copying them.

To me, 2017 was pretty decent, I enjoyed lots of the culture that year aside from mumble rap, 2018 was mediocre, but 2019 was ass.
I could go over again and again how much I HATED 2019 personally and culturally but I've been busy lately with work, soo you get the idea.
I love the minimalist look though, it looks so clean and pleasing to my eyes rather than clutter in my house lol, which is why I barely have any decorations in my room so I clean my room almost everyday without a problem

For a while, every brand was designing their software to look neon-futuristic.

The early 20s have been way more conventional than the late 2010s so far, Pretty much all the biggest songs of the early 20s have been throwback songs.
Now, I know throwback music was really big in the 2010s, however, it's getting ridiculous now. The Weeknd, Dua lipa, Tyler the Creator (just announced his 90s r&b album)
Don't forget to say so, blinding lights, don't start now, good 4 u. Avril's new album is gonma be a 2000s throwback album.
Contrast this with the early 2010s, the time of larger than life Electropop, new and exciting genres like dubstep. Music was changing really fast back then.
Also, contrast it with the late 2010s when we had new artists like Lil nas x and cardi b become big, the rise of trap and bedroom pop. I know that the 2020s just started, but this wave of retro-obessed music doesn't seem like It's going away anytime soon.
The state of music in 2021 is quite sad, in my opinion.

Even 2011 to 2015 are iffy to me. 2015 was boring and kind of led to the shit late 2010s era. 2011-2014 were better than 2010 and 2015 but not by much. Definitely, especially with the releases of Jurassic World and The Force Awakens. IMO 2015 isn't anywhere near as bad as a lot of other 2010s years though. We got some genuinely original movies like Inside Out, The Force Awakens is a lot better than the other Sequel-era movies, and some good games like Undertale. 2016-present culture just disgusts me
