Do you think 2017 is another dark and digital year? 2017 has an off beat vibe. I call 2017 demonic and satanic. I agree 2015 is dogshit. kind of, both different years that felt nothing alike, 2017 has that same " dogshit this a dark off beat year" vibe 2007 was a great and exciting year though 2017 was just depressing and empty

January 1, 2017 through January 19, 2017 is the only redeeming part of 2017. September-December 2018 is the only redeeming part of 2018. January 20, 2017-August 2018 can kiss my ass! agreed

I can't stand when people say "2016 was dark". Nope, you're talking about 2017 lol. Like, I get that it's technically rooted in 2016, but blaming 2016 for 2017 would be like blaming 2019 for COVID.

Many things in 2017-18 felt so dark I don't even know how to describe. -We got the Las Vegas and Parkland Shooting. -The Charlottesville rally. -Gritty trap beats becoming the norm. -Trump's time in office. -EDM becoming slow.

Yeah I cannot stand that either. They are the same people who claim 2016 is dark because their favorite celebrity died, natural disasters and Trump got elected. They forget that Obama is still president in November and December 2016. Celebrities die and natural disasters happen every year. Nothing is unique or special about that. Sure the Pulse Nightclub Shooting happened in June 2016 which was awful (RIP to all victims), but more mass shootings occurred throughout 2017-2018. By that logic, 2004 would be dark because Ronald Reagan died and the Indian Ocean tsunami occurred. Yet literally EVERYBODY on the internet loves 2004, and it's even considered by some the best 2000s year.

2017 isn’t memorable at all to me. Too many tragic events happened that year and I just don’t ever want to revisit that year. 2018 is definitely an improvement from 2017 personally but culturally these two years are very bland. At least 2019 had some sparks to it. I share the same sentiments. I do not get why people say 2017 is better than 2016, when 2017 is worse than 2016. 2016 is better than 2017. 2017 is overrated. 2018 is also an improvement from 2017 personally. 2017 and most of 2018 got no personalities, kind of like boring, flat, one-dimensional, dull, uninteresting people who you do not want to associate with. They are shallow, hollow pieces of shits who got sticks up their asses. 2017 and 2018 are the two most similar years of the 2010s. They can be a couple. TWIN YEARS I have to post this on my thread

The only better thing the 2017-2018 had was more going on and some more personality, even if it wasn't good, compared 2019,. I think the core 10s lasted into late 2018, early 2019.

I also think the tail end of the core 2010s lasted until early 2019 when Game Of Thrones ended. Huh? I don't think you can attach game of thrones to one singular part of the 2010s. It was a decade-wide phenomenon

Most of late 10s were so negative that I think we block or have just forgotten just how bad and derivative it really was, which made contributed to its emptiness. Outside of the toxic trump and SJW culture, I can’t say 2016-2019 had much of anything new or interesting to offer that wasn’t already established in 2009-2015 and already existing and slightly modified from then. Very few things really stick out.
It was definitely empty because trump didnt really change things the way Obama did and most of 2016-2019 was a watered down version of the mid 2010s.

2016 besides political turmoil, Pokémon Go and a couple terrible memes and songs was just so goddamn bland. I remember almost nothing about it pop culturally.
2017 sucked but at the very least had so much obnoxious things that made it quite memorable actually: fidget spinners, the Paul brothers, the peak of Musical.ly (before it mutated into Tik Tok), the release of the Switch, the rise of Soundcloud rap, ... It was the late 2010s at its most vibrant, for better or for worse.

Looking back, 2014-2016 was a very JAM-PACKED era. Filthy Frank, montage parodies, Five Nights at Freddys, GoAnimate, Undertale, Twenty One Pilots, To Pimp a Butterfly, #TheDress, Pokémon Go, cringe compilations, commentary channels (LeafyIsHere, Pyrocynical), hipsters, Steven Universe, Gamergate, the 2016 election, 2016 Summer Olympics, Vine, Miiverse, The Force Awakens, Overwatch, Flappy Bird, The Lego Movie, Windows 10, Inside Out. I could go on and on. However, in 2017 basically ALL of those things died off, including Vine which got shut down, so you ended up with a very hollow vibe. Only a few things really defined this era to me like Fortnite, fidget spinners, PUBG, battle royale games in general, tide pods, peak-era Rick and Morty and its resulting backlash, as well as A LOT of shootings and celebrity deaths. It just doesn’t seem to have its own vibe. In a weird way Trump’s inauguration felt like the last truly exciting thing to happen before the dull nothingness of the late 2010s came. Fortnite was cool but didn’t have the same kinda impact the way FNAF, Undertale, or even Minecraft did. When TikTok launched in late 2018 that’s when things started to become exciting again for better or worse. 2019 felt exciting the way 2017-2018 did not. It had more of its own identity. But what do you guys think? Do you think 2017-2018 was kinda an empty era, or am I just seeing things differently? Trump being inaugurated was NOT exciting. LOL

2015 was incredibly empty, honestly. Besides the LGBTQ legalization and maybe some of the movies I just can't remember anything substantial about 2015. It's like 2016 with none of the crazy shit going on.
2017 was more bland than 2018. It was super boring all around, besides Trump and the drama surrounding Charlottesville there wasn't much to talk about. Like, at all. Even the games didn't excite me that much, mainly because I personally didn't care for them. The ones I were playing were of the past such as Battlefield 1, Forza Horizon 3 and Black Ops 1/2. Music was the same forgettable trash from before, but even worse due to the new wave of mumble rap. At least 2018 was exciting for gaming with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 4, and was FAR better for animated movies.
