Back in the day, before smartwatches, there were digital watches (which I grew up on), and before that, there were analog watches, the ones with physical minute hands. But when did digital watches become more popular? And when would you say the prime era for them were? I saw they first came out during the mid-70s, but my guess would be they were most popular in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, before declining in the mid-2000s due to the rapid rise of cellphones, and then watches re-emerged in the mid-2010s with smartwatches like the Apple Watch.

Or maybe in the very late 70s
