Honestly one of the biggest things that was largely missing from the 2010s was R&B IMO. It was huge throughout the 2000s and seemed to have just disappeared by the time 2010 came.
I wanna say the return began around the late 2010s, but it is really noticeable now with Doja Cat, Summer Walker, Normani, H.E.R., Toosii, blxst, and more, as well as Ariana Grande becoming mainly an R&B singer. I'm really happy it's back and popping for the 2020s.

Maybe crunk, Timbaland or Neptunes influence might seep into R&B music of the 2020s. I am also happy R&B is back. Well, Tyler the Creator is now our modern-day Neptune's in a way. I don't really see Crunk coming back though, honestly.

I'd be very surprised to see Crunk make a return. Maybe a song that is a nostalgia throwback to that era, but not a revival.

I can't wait for 2000s R&B and futurism to make a come back in R&B/Pop. We need that cutting edge stuff again.
