In the 2000s we had 28 days later, 28 weeks later, dawn of the dead (and the sequels), Shaun of the dead (a successful parody movie), several resident evil games and movies, i am the legend, quarantine, the corpse bride, zombieland and a bunch of other movies and games.
But zombiemania from the 2000s refused to die when we entered the hipster decade. In the 2010s We had The Walking Dead, izombie, pride and prejudice, world war z, train to busan, warm bodies, the last of us, ZombiU, Dying Light, several telltale (rip) TWD games, a few TWD spinoffs, plants vs zombies, the dead island franchise, the dead rising franchise.
Zombies even invaded other traditional franchises like Call Of Duty and red dead redemption.
I distinctly remember TWD being a huge show in the early 10s, dying light was absolutely HUGE for a while, and i believe everyone on this planet has watched World War Z. So I'll go with the 2010s.
Plus zombies became something of an "aesthetic" in the 2010s, we saw zombies in children's media, in clothes and etc.
But we haven't had a zombie blockbuster since the mid 10s, the newer resident evil games don't even have zombies on them and TWD is going to premiere its final season in early 2022. I think it is safe to say zombiemania is finally (hopefully) dead.

The early 2010s were the absolute peak. You couldn't escape mention of The Walking Dead, and Zombies mode in Call of Duty was a huge deal. Plus most of the 2000s stuff you mentioned like Left 2 Dead or Zombieland was toward the end of the decade, so it was clearly a late 2000s/early 2010s phenomenon. It only recently occurred to me just how huge it was. Zombies were to the 2010s what dinosaurs were to the 90s.

Zombies were huge in the 2000s but, I would give it to the 2010s.
2012 especially, was peak zombies.

Zombies were big between 2004-2005 to around 2015.

Zombies were big between 2004-2005 to around 2015. This is very true. In video games, I’d say they really got big after the release of Resident Evil 4. It did seem to be dead by the late 2010s. I would say The Last of Us was the absolute peak though. That game was huge.
