I would say this started in the mid 1960s (if statistics do me right here). Even according to older relatives, the vast majority of people trusted the government in the 1950s, that really changed in the 60s.

During the 1950s, there was this sense of conformity. Rebelling was decidedly NOT cool. You had to respect your family, your country, and the police. You also had to hate communism and be a patriot. Whilst the 1980s saw a return of those ideologies, there WERE backlash movements such as the hardcore punk and thrash metal scenes. And war was now regarded as a bad thing. You couldn't get away with that in the 50s. I honestly couldn't imagine living in the 50s. They seem to be right-authoritarian which is definitely not me (I'm a slightly right-leaning strong libertarian). I can make an entire thread about how ridiculous the conformity and censorship of the 1950s was, and why I could never live in them.

Even tho the 1920s are known for being more conservative than the Edwardian era
