It is with much sadness to announce this, but due to COPPA's minimum age restrictions, SkittlesCat will no longer be able to register for an account on Popedia, until he is closer in age to the minimum age requirement (which is age 13). As you may know, Proboards (the host provider of this forum) detected his account a few hours ago and deleted it. While this isn't an easy decision to make, I have decided that it is ultimately the best decision for the forum. Proboards has a policy that if forums are caught violating the COPPA rules multiple times, they may be permanently deleted. Considering that Proboards is now aware that SkittlesCat is underage, I believe it would be too much of a risk to allow SkittlesCat to register for an account again. Even if SkittlesCat used a different username and profile picture, they would still be aware of his IP address, since they banned his original account. However, with that said, this isn't the last time we will hear from SkittlesCat. He is more than welcome to post as a guest, if he wishes to. I have now allowed guest posting on all boards. COPPA law does not apply to guest posting, as "guests" are not registered members of the forum. Therefore, he will be able to continue posting on Popedia, as per normal, without the risk of his account being deleted again and Popedia possibly being permanently deleted. SkittlesCat, if you are reading this, I wanted to send you a PM about the situation, however I couldn't find your Twitter account (maybe it has been deleted? ) and your account on Funjoint has been deleted as well. Sorry to announce it like this and I hope you understand the situation and the reason for me making the decision.

It’s for his own good, keep him off this site. A 9 year old kid shouldn’t visit a forum website with a bunch of strangers.

For example, some 9-year-olds already know about the Internet and what not to share, whereas some are irresponsible and don't know the dangers

It wouldn't change anything, because the COPPA law would remain the same.

Aww. It was interesting reading his posts and seeing his viewpoints. I hope he can still come and post as a guest. It’s for his own good, keep him off this site. A 9 year old kid shouldn’t visit a forum website with a bunch of strangers. I guess you're right. I personally regret making stupid posts on my first forum when I was aged 9. I caused flame wars and got hate which made me angry and upset.

My biggest question is how did a 9 year old find out about this site? What kind of 9 year old cares about generations? I don’t have a problem with it, I just find it quite.... rare.

I'm pretty sure he discovered Popedia through Personality Cafe, but I have no idea how he discovered Personality Cafe!

I remember when I started using the forums when I was ten. It was a Sims 3 forum, but I didn't post anything. But the sims I made on that site were just wtf. I made a sim on there called "Angry toddler ready to beat those bad boys!" and all it was was a toddler with eyebrows that make her have a resting b!tch face I remember making it but I didn't realize how dumb it was until I saw it five years later

That's what I was thinking ! Like whatever he seemed pretty mature for his age and it was nice having him here, but I would have to agree with you I don't think 9 year olds should be going on these forums tbh.

A bit of an update in regards to SkittlesCat's account. After having a discussion with SkittlesCat in regards to the COPPA law, I have come to the decision that his account will be disabled, rather than deleted outright. This is due to a few reasons:
* Disabling the account restricts log-in access and using the account, meaning that in the interim, SkittlesCat will be required to post as a "guest" anyway. In any case, it achieves the exact same purpose as deleting the account would, yet with the benefit of no posts being deleted. This means that the flow of some threads will not be altered, as has happened already in relation to the deletion of SkittlesCat's original account.
* Once SkittlesCat is closer to the minimum requirement age (age 13), he will be able to log-in to his account.
* Disabling the account complies with Proboards terms and conditions, as SkittlesCat will not be posting/using the account during the time and he will be posting as a "guest", which is not affected by COPPA law (as it's not a registered account).
If you have any concerns or inquiries, please feel free to share them here.
