If COVID continues and we get a worse president or Trump back as president (I hope not) by 2025, then yes the early 2020s will be seen as an innocent time.
Since March 2020, some, most or a lot of people are already nostalgic for the late 2010s because it was a pre-COVID, pre-quarantine era and the economy was a little better. We’re barely removed from that era politically and culturally. I guess people spoke to soon in 2019 claiming that they won’t miss the 2010s and that the 2020s will be better.
People now see the early 2000s as an innocent time, despite George W Bush’s election and inauguration, 9/11, Afghan and Iraq Wars. People now see the early 2010s as an innocent time, despite the lingering Great Recession effects. I remember at those times, people claiming how they won’t miss those eras and how horrendous they were.
