The person who directed this also directed Mean Girls, I could def see this becoming a trend once again. It was rampant in the 2000s.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. It's not just comedy but just every genre in the film industry. Political correctness killed the young adult comedy genre in my opinion. Many of my favorites from the 2000s couldn't be made today because one or more of the jokes wouldn't fly. I'd like the genre to make a comeback, but it's going to take more than nostalgia to make it happen.
