I just realized this. This means we are literally closer to the start of the Mid 2020s than to the start of 2020. Crazy!

With the amount of crazy stuff that happened since this is not shocking me in the least honestly I know but it just makes January 2020 feel so ancient even though it's only like a year and a half ago. I already miss it.

Time sure does fly. People were definitely a whole lot more optimistic about 2020 on January 1 of last year, but that entire month was really a grim prelude to how the rest of the year went. We basically started 2020 with the enraging Australian wildfires and people worrying about (or meme-ing about) whether Iran would declare major war on the U.S. following Soleimani's death. The coronavirus (used to be called that before COVID-19 became to be the defining term) wasn't really that much of a big deal to most people until early March when people started to panic buy and basically freak out over if there wasn't toilet paper (which was and still is MONUMENTALLY stupid). I truly believe that March 11, 2020 was the start of the COVID era that we're still currently living in. On that day alone, the NBA got suspended, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita got the virus, and then-President Trump ordered a 30-day ban on non-citizens traveling from Europe to the U.S. That was when, imo, people really started to take this virus seriously. I hope we don't have to deal with COVID in a massive way by May 1, 2023.

March 11 was the day everything changed, that day still hasn't really ended
