LMAO obviously a wind-up - not even a journo would come up with such blind evaluations. Not a bloody wind up, I can assure you, sir. I hate ALL of these songs with a vengeance and a passion. Boring, boring, boring. I would only listen to them if I was having difficulty sleeping as I would be out before they even got to the first bloody chorus. I wanted to protest and stand up for Funkytown as well but how boring would it be if we all saw things the same!
Funkytown was huge on the dancefloor I remember but that doesn't stop it being earworm to some I guess.
And no doubt I've songs I hate that others like, that's just the way of the world.

I don't particularly like the original released by Lipps Inc, but Pseudo Echo's cover of "Funkytown" is quite decent, in my opinion.

Thank you for your civilised reply, God Less America. Personal taste is just personal taste.
I'm just not into disco, dance and funk except for a chosen few such as Wild Cherry's 'Play That Funky Music' or Chaka Khan's 'Ain't Nobody'.

Thank you for your civilised reply, God Less America. Personal taste is just personal taste. Oh I'm quite civil - fact I was just teasing really - what @sharksfan99 posted there though - just NO! - I don't care for cover songs generally - reminds me, will look for a cover songs thread here.

For me personally, it was difficult coming up with a list here because I quite enjoy 80s songs virtually by default, with most of the decade's worst material simply being mediocre rather than painful. For now, I can only really come up with a bottom 8 songs of the 80s as opposed to a full bottom 10, and even then, only my number 1 pick is anywhere near as horrible as the songs I featured in my 2000s and 2010s lists. 8. Hard To Say I'm Sorry - magnificent! Belongs maybe in the top 50 greatest 80's songs. 4. Totally - The Associates per se were just annoying and this is one dreadful dirge. I agree too with the #1 choice but thankfully don't know the others. I'll be honest, I was stretching when I put "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" on my list. I think I'm mostly just disillusioned by how formulaic Chicago were throughout the '80s when they were one of the most colorful and creative pop rock bands around during the first half of the 1970s. The song is nowhere near as terrible as "Ant Rap", "Who Dunnit?", or "Girlie, Girlie" and has since left my list. Speaking of which, I'm taking it you missed the post where I updated my list. This is what my top 10 least favourite '80s songs would be today: 10. Fancy - Slice Me Nice
9. The Associates - Party Fears Two
8. Depeche Mode - People Are People
7. New Kids on the Block - Please Don’t Go Away Girl
6. Living in a Box - Living in a Box - I didn't comment too much on this previously, so I may as well give my two cents now. In my opinion, "Living in a Box" is easily the epitome of everyhting non-'80s fans hate about '80s music. It's an absolutely meaningless and tasteless dance-pop song with a generic, transparent melody, as well as lyrics that are way too literal and novel to be taken seriously, yet also lacking any nuance or fun to even work with any naive, carefree charm. The vocals are unbelievably labored and the production is exhaustingly overpowering and over-punctuated. To my ears, this track is the most soulless, contrived, and flatulent piece of 1980s kitsch ever. 5. LL Cool J - I'm That Type of Guy
4. Adam Ant - Ant Rap
3. Thrash Queen - Manslayer - No need to say much here. Just click the link and that'll explain everything. 2. Genesis - Who Dunnit?
1. Sophia George - Girlie, Girlie

This song from 1989 is pretty bad. To be honest, I would personally consider this to be one of the worst Australian songs of the '80s. Prior to the release of this single, Collette was a model. She had no previous experience with music, which is quite obvious with how poor her vocal skills are. Incredibly, it managed to peak at #5 on the Australian ARIA Chart and #4 in New Zealand. BTW, I've actually gotten in a flame war with the guy who uploaded that.

Pantera is a well-known for being a bad hair metal band that became way better in the 90s when they invented "Groove metal".
Their 80s stuff meanwhile is some of the worst stuff I've ever heard

I thought Kylie was bad until I heard Collette! Collette is in a class of her own when it comes to horrible music. Not surprisingly, her music career was very short-lived.
