The differences between 2015 and 2017 were very staggering. While both years do share similarities, the differences outweigh. 2015 feels closer to 2013 than 2017.
-Vine was at the top in 2015 while dead in 2017. -Two different presidents from both years. -Instagram had it's classic look. -2015 fashion is a lot closer to 2013 than 2017. -Discord just started in 2015 while it was blowing up in 2017. -2015 was more EDM and pop while 2017 was rap and latin. -Memes in 2015 were MLG and dank while 2017 memes were Twitter and Youtube edits.

2019 and 2021 is shocking too.
- COVID-19 wasn't a thing until December 2019 before becoming a pandemic in 2020. In 2021 there's the vaccine and COVID is slowly fading away.
- Different US president.
- Trap was at its peak in 2019 and the No. 1 hit of the year was a Trap song, while it's slowly fading in 2021.
- EDM was still around in 2019 as a popular genre, while it's not in 2021.
- Artists like Lil Nas X, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion were just blowing up in 2019, while they're now established pop stars in 2021.

To be fair, a lot of the current culture we’re currently experiencing started at some point between late 2018-2019. Airpods, TikTok, and artists like Lil Nas X and Billie Eillish started becoming popular during the 2018-19 school year, so the difference between 2019 and 2021 doesn’t really feel that significant to me.

Yes, the difference between 2019 and 2021 is significant and huge real-life wise

Yup, especially the first half of 2015 compared to 2017. Summer 2015 - Nov 2016 is easily the most transitory stretch of that decade.

The first half is obviously closer to 2013 while the fourth quarter(Oct-Dec) is 50/50. Spot on I forgot to mention that 2015 Youtube was pre-commentary, pre-adpocolypse, and pre-storytime animation.

I forgot to mention that 2015 Youtube was pre-commentary, pre-adpocolypse, and pre-storytime animation. I noticed around late 2016 youtube content started feeling really soulless and corporatised. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Jump from early 2015 to late 2017 is quite shocking. Early 2015: Trump is known as the reality TV show host, Apprentice, not someone whose running for president. Obama is president of the United States Late 2017: Trump is president of the United States. Early 2015: Kind of the last time people can get away with whatever they say. Late 2017: Me Too movement, cancel culture, people getting overly sensitive and offended over everything. Early 2015: Hipster looks at their peak. Late 2017: Hipster looks are close to being dead. Early 2015: EDM, teen pop, DJ Mustard style hip hop Late 2017: Tropical House, adult-contemporary pop, Soundcloud trap Early 2015: Bezzel touch screen smartphones with earphone jacks, traditional earphones with the wires Late 2017: Bezzel-less touch screen smartphones without earphone jacks and AirPods Early 2015: Vine Late 2017: Musically For late 2017, I would replace tropical house with future bass.
