- The economy starts to go up from the recession slumb - The Haiti earthquake shocks the public and countless charity songs are released - Official start of the Arab Spring in Tunisia - MySpace is fully dead, Facebook is king and Twitter is on the rise - Instagram is released - The iPad is released - Wikileaks scandal - BP oil spill kicks off a huge eco friendly take of conscience in peoples' minds - iPhone 4 is released with a front-facing cam, which later result in the selfie culture - Ke$ha takes the charts by storm and becomes one of the biggest divas of the electropop genre - Lady Gaga's meat dress makes her infamous - The Justin Bieber hate bandwagon on YouTube launches his career - Lost, one of the biggest shows of the 2000s, concludes - Walking Dead, one of the biggest shows of the 2010s, starts airing - Aventure Time redefines TV animation
It's arguable this is the true start of the early 10s and mid/late 09-2010 is just an empty transition period. So much stuff that defines the 10s or at least a sizeable amount of it started here.

Not to mention:
- Kinect for the Xbox 360 releases - Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon changed their logos (Nick in late 09, CN in mid 2010) - Dragon Tales (popular 2000s show) quits airing on PBS Kids - Call of Duty reaches it's peak popularity with Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 1 - Blockbuster files for bankruptcy, closing most of their stores - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic airs it's first episode, starting G5, it would go on to create a huge fanbase of older and younger fans alike - Xbox Live closes down for the Original Xbox putting the final nail in the coffin for it
Now that I look at it I think 2010 was far more early 2010s than many people think. I know a lot of these are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things but they do show to me that 2000s culture was on it's way out.

The second half of 2010 into early 2011 felt more solidly 2010s, but by 2009-2010, 2010s decade identity was mostly there, just with some degree of stronger late 2000s holdovers mixed in, compared to later .

I know this is meant to be a satire of my 2011 post but a lot of these are just technical start dates of stuff or just flat out wrong. Like the recession started to recover in mid-late 09 and Lady Gaga became infamous back in late 08 or early 09 for example. Instagram was released but no one knew what it was.

Why can't we all just agree that 2008-2013 was one big transition

I know that, I am saying by the 2009 VMAS she was already a house hold name prior, still in 2008 while her song was everywhere and everyone was talking about Gaga, she was not a house hold name until Early 2009, Pokerface didn't start hitting the 1 and 2 spots on radio until early 2009, it took a few months for her to become a house hold name VS trending
