I used to see people with them around 2013-2015/2016 and then kind of vanished in 2016/2017. Lol.

Mainly because they had a lack of apps that most iOS and Android users had, and app developers weren't able to develop and port their material in an entirely new mobile Windows OS.

It was never really that popular but Android and IOS have since completely eaten the market share by the late 2010s. So Microsoft basically gave up, since Windows 10 Mobile, the latest version, is no longer supported since early 2020.
