I've always been skeptical about this. You hear of people wishing that the world would be at peace and that there wouldn't be any violence. However, I personally don't think world peace has ever been or will ever be achievable. How can it be? There are billions of people in the world, each with their own personal beliefs and values. It's only natural that people's beliefs are going to clash with each other and cause tension. Not everyone has the exact same ideologies or beliefs.
What are your thoughts on this? Is world peace even possible?

Not until there is true social equality and abolition of class and caste systems will there be anything even remotely resembling peace.
Although, such is human nature, that even if was achieved, there would always be some greedy grab bag wanting more. This explains the existence of billionaires. Billionaires are millionaires who got too greedy.
So there will probably never be world peace.

I cannot imagine world peace truly arriving for at least several generations because the world is just too complicated, too scare of resources, and too ruled by clashing ideologies and worldviews to be completely harmonious. Even if a majority of powerful countries are attaining overwhelming economic prosperity and peace, it's still too likely that chains of misunderstandings, conflicts for essential resources, and dangerous absolutes from other parts of the globe would ultimately rock that equilibrium. Everybody needs to be content, or else those left out will hustle for survival at any dangerous cost possible.
We could probably achieve peace in the distant future if technology improves enough to the point that everybody is able to experience whatever they want, whether isolated or in communication with others, but only if cybersecurity is effective enough without breaching privacy or civil liberties. If everyone was raised to grow content about living in their own virtual world with enough substance to prevent them from needing to experience the real world, then there would not be any need to take from others. Essentially, I imagine a Hobbesian utopia with extremely beneficial technology and basic resources – not a world dominated by mind-rotting convenience, but rather ultra-advanced methods of obtaining food, health, shelter, pleasure, and adventure, all under a purified safety net.

To be honest, I don't social hierarchies will ever be abolished, because the world is entirely reliant on them to maintain order and prosperity. Like you mentioned, even if they were abolished, there will always a clash of opinions over how society should function and the relationship between power & authority. I don't believe world peace will ever be remotely possible, because there are so many factors which would prohibit it from ever occurring. To be honest, I have my doubts that virtual reality will ever achieve total world peace. There may be advances in cybersecurity, but on the flip side of the coin, people may develop ways to overcome cybersecurity measures. People have found ways to hack into Government resources, despite measures taken to protect confidential information and other Government files. I personally don't think a world without conflict is possible, even with such technological advances. There will always be turmoil and a clash of opinions, because that's the basic fabric of life.

Very true, Shark. It is basic human nature to disagree.

That’s literally impossible considering how populated the world is and how many people have different personalities and ways of seeing things
