For me:
2010
Pure electropop...
2011-2012
Party/club rap (electro-rap?) by artists like Flo Rida, Taio Cruz and Pitbull really define these years for me.
2013
2014-2015
The saxophone (?) bridge chorus really is the most 2014/2015 sounding thing to me. Coupled with the DJ Mustard-sounding beat, it has those 2014-era "twerk" vibes.
2016
2016 really gives me Drake/Rihanna dancehall vibes.
2017-2018
5 years later it's the complete opposite of 2012 as melancholy emo rap really defines this period for me.
2019:
Kind of a futuristic vibe, felt like things were building up to the "future" - 2020. (The Box by Roddy Ricch also fits this vibe perfectly but it was released in January of 2020).

2010
Bright, bold, colorful, party-oriented
2011
Big statement, last-party-before-the-world-ends feeling
2012
Dubstep, Instagram filters and hipster hats abound, super Millenial
2013
More restrained and organic feeling, drop-heavy, philosophical
2014
Booty, more minimalist, booty, humor-heavy, booty, booty
2015
Darker, airy, more sophisticated, Fifty Shades of Grey
2016
Slow, trap drums, Vine-oriented
2017
Extremely dark, cold, gritty
2018
Stripped back, Tik Tok-oriented
2019
Ironic, poppier, super gen Z

2014 has the most recognizable music style of the 10s because of all the trumpets
Whenever i heard a 10s song that has trumpets i instantly know it was made in 2014 lol

2010:
This is the first song that comes to mind when I think of 2010
2011:
Party anthems and Pitbull were all the rage in 2011
2012:
Hipster at its peak
2013:
2013 was when viral songs and YouTube videos started to top the charts. Miley Cyrus was everywhere and it was just a silly year
2014:
DJ Mustard beats are so 2014
2015:
Tropical House just reminds me of 2015
2016:
Trap gets a newer sound and music just gets dark/melancholic
2017:
SoundCloud rap and chopped vocals on EDM songs
2018:
Emo rap at its peak and trap elements are in a lot of pop songs in 2018
2019:
A lighter and fresher feeling compared to the other late 10s years but still very 2010s

Not all of these are hits or anything, but rather songs that define the overall vibe of the year for me.
2010
Optimistic, happy, hedonistic, fun, electropop
2011
Still optimistic and happy, but hipsters are rapidly rising in pop culture
2012
Do I REALLY need to explain?
2013
Overly optimistic and wholesome, hipsters, urban gentrification vibes, unoriginal, shitty
2014
Things get more politically charged. About police brutality and racism which are hot topics due to Ferguson.
2015
Brief return to optimism and happiness. LGBT vibes befitting the year gay marriage was legalized.
2016
Society becomes more politically charged in the wake of the 2016 election. Hip-hop becomes more popular, pop culture gets darker.
2017
Dark, gloom, depression, all hope lost. Emo rap becomes a brief trend among young people.
2018
America has way too many mass shootings. Also I remember Childish Gambino was everywhere this year.
2019
Still dark vibes like 2016-2018 but its different. Less politically charged, and more quirky and weird. Gen Z has fully taken over and teenage girls LOVE her.
