I remember back around late 2013-2015, people complained that the PS4 and 8th generation gaming was a continuation of the PS3 and 7th generation gaming.
Would you say that is the case with the PS5, one of the first 9th generation gaming consoles? Is 8th generation gaming a continuation of 7th generation gaming?
I think with 9th generation gaming, it may be still too early to tell. I guess by around 2023 or 2024, we’ll have an idea on 9th generation gaming.
I don’t know why but the jump from PS3 to PS4 and PS4 to PS5 doesn’t seem as monumental as the jump from PS1 to PS2 to PS3. I feel like the PS5 shouldn’t have been released and delayed to late 2023 or 2024, or called PS4 future or some shit like that kind of like the PS2 slim in 2004.

I think so. PS3 stood out more compared to the PS2 and there was a felt difference. Most gaming world post 2001 is just not equal to the earlier world with some exceptions and indie games.
I think 2007/2008-2013 was an improved version of 2004/2005-2007. 2012 to the present has mostly felt souless and uninspired with some stand out titles, VR games and indie games that are original and stand out compared to earlier years. Switch is probably the best system out there. PlayStation is not what once was recent consoles feel like an upgrade than an entirely new groundbreaking experience.

Honestly, gaming has kinda felt the same since the 7th generation. Like, the change is just so much slower than it used to be.
