Whenever I go to the mall it always gives me late 2000's nostalgia for some reason...

I might be alone in this but certain malls give me a heavy 2013-2015ish vibe. "Happy" by Pharrell Williams vibe I guess. most of them were painted all one color in the mid 2010s My guesses are white, gray brown, beige, any muted, neutral color around late 2014 and 2015. Hopefully the malls that got facelifts in late 2016 were not like that. No wonder most malls are declining. A lot of the unique characteristics malls had (plants, fountains, wacky designs, bright and bold colors, etc) were stripped during the 2010s in favor of being "modern." I noticed this with other businesses like McDonalds. I feel like malls were gutted out throughout the 2010s. This adds to my theory of the 2010s being a "Walking Dead" decade. The late 2000s were heading towards that zombie atmosphere that dominated the 2010s. The late 2000s through around early 2009 were less apocalyptic than late 2009 through the 2010s. I wonder if the Great Recession influenced the 2010s vacant vibe.
