When did Asia start to surpass the US, technologically? They always seem 5 to 10 years ahead of the US in that department. Is that because US jobs outsource to Asia? Will the US ever surpass Asia, remain equal or stay behind Asia?

Gradually during the 70s and 80s, especially after the malaise period of cars and video game crash of 1983.
By the end of the 80s and into the 90s, you saw Japanese cars everywhere and most of the big video games were made by Japan. Most consumer electronics were also now made by companies like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, etc.

I’ve always felt like countries such as Japan seemed way ahead of the US from what I’ve seen in videos, though I’ve never been to any Asian countries let alone out of America at all. We’re supposed to have the best built building’s I’m told, yet our infrastructure seems like shit and our buildings look like crap compared to some other countries.
