"The Twist" is kind of a dumb song, but it was probably the best choice to represent the Billboard charts. It's a catchy pop song that everyone can dance to and it has nods to early rock music at the same time.
I'm quite unhappy about "Blinding Lights" taking its spot. It has great lyrics, but the production is abysmal. It sounds like an amateur synthwave project by some random producer on YouTube, and melodically feels like a thin carbon copy of "Take On Me". As a throwback to 80s new wave/synthpop it fails, it doesn't feature the crashing percussion and gated drums that were iconic to that era. It sounds more like a flat Erasure track from the early 90s if anything. Very surprised it was produced by no one else than Max Martin! By far one of the most overrated songs of the century.

I expect better from the iconic Max Martin
