Did anyone notice the overexposure of hashtags being placed everywhere in 2013-2015? So many people abused hashtags in this time period lol.

Yup, big trend around 2013 especially for sure. People would even say it irl which always weirded me out. I guess it had a novelty factor back when Instragram and Twitter became ubiquitous in the mid-10s, so it declined naturally after that.

I first heard about hashtags around 2013 as well, especially with the BET Awards promoting the hell out of hashtag trends.
Oh, and don't forget about #selfie/bae culture in 2014....ugh.

I actually used to say “hashtag” whatever in high school and so did all my friends lmao. It was an era
