The No. 1 is a Taylor Swift song from literally f*ing 2012 and No. 2 is an Adele song that sounds like it could be from 2012. Kill me now lol.
Like what the hell. Give us something fresh and new, PLEASE!!! Slow-tempo pop songs that sound like they could've been released a decade ago ain't it.

That Taylor Swift song is a rerecording of her original track, not exactly from 2012. The 10 minute track is the one that is popular with different instrumentation and added lyrics. Easy On Me sounds like a piano ballad from any other time period, not just exclusive to 2012. You're right, the charts do need something fresh.

The charts are doing generally quite well this year apart from that. IMO music is the best it's ever been for over a decade. So many funky bangers like "Bad Habits", "Don't go yet" and "Love Again".

How about hyperpop and drill? Drill is hardly new yeah Drill has been a thing since 2011/2012, but it's one of those genres that actually has EVOLVED a lot in that decade. 2011 Drill sounds nothing like 2021 Drill. Trap is too, 2021 Trap is basically a different genre from 2012 Trap and has expanded to have its own subgenres and fusions now, while it was just a subgenre itself back then. Meanwhile these boring slow-tempo pop songs and "80s" throwback songs basically have sounded the same since forever. Also yeah pop punk is back, but I prefer the Trap-Punk fusion (like "Mood") to the ones that are basically just 2000s throwback songs because it's actually unique to this era.

I can't believe Taylor Swift's song from 2012 is number 1. Sure it was re-recorded this year but it sounds EXACTLY like a song you would hear from 2012. Yuck, brings back bad memories of the horrible cheesy music from that time. Music is good in general in the early 2020s but I agree it isn't original. I want something new and fresh and NOT hyper pop. Spome other genre that is new but is actually good.
Since we're already talking about it, I want to mention Taylor Swift is really annoying with her desire to re-record her albums. It almost seems like a money grab from her end. A lazy way to get back into the spotlight.

Taylor Swift stinks
Boring-ass acoustic music, why can't she just fall off, her fanbase is fucking rabid

It's strange.
