You are probably wondering how I was able to go to a Circuit City in 2021, well my Covid Booster site was the OLD CIRCUIT CITY ! I have not stepped in here since the mall apocalypse of 2009! It was weird, like there was 200 people atleast inside it seemed... and did not have the worn out vibe of a label scared establishment. It felt like Circuit City was back lmao. All the old signage was inside the store including the PSP,Playstation2,Gamecube,Xbox station lmao
WHAT A TRIP!!!

Wow must’ve been a time capsule with all the signage, just how the employees and manager left it 12 years ago back in 2009. I’m getting chills thinking about it. It’s eery. Funny how 2009 and 2021 share the same Chinese zodiac sign. Last time people stepped into Circuit City was in 2009 and now again in 2021 because of booster shots, came full circle. I find it hard to believe some Circuit City stores are still abandoned. It must’ve been a treat seeing Circuit City intact. I wonder if any former Circuit City employees who worked at that location were there to get shots. They must’ve felt weird because most of them thought they’d never step foot into a Circuit City again. This would’ve been great content for YouTubers who urban explore. oh def, IT WAS SO WEIRD, it even HAD THE SAME CARPET and the same smell !!!! lol You know when you wait for 15 min after u get the shot, I kept looking around everywhere lol

minus the chairs and missing lights lol Yes lol! Honestly the pictures still look kind of bittersweet. I'm bitter about them going out of business. I bet that lady is also looking around at what once was Circuit City, this retail giant. prob is, other people there were talking about it being Circuit City. It is so weird how a place can retain a smell 12 years after closing. Like it had a special smell, like it smelt like Carpet and like suede and like the smell of a new video game lol

Like it had a special smell, like it smelt like Carpet and like suede and like the smell of a new video game lol I find a store smelling the same after closing over a decade ago strange. It seems like the place was left untouched since the manager and employees locked those doors to customers for the final time. Maybe that could be because the interior of that Circuit City was not completely gutted yet. Many other Circuit City stores got repurposed to other stores or demolished since. Lol even I can smell that, though I have not been to a Circuit City since the late 2000s. and it's weird because Best Buy does not have that smell at all, or even Blockbuster ( they had their own smell ) lol I kind of want to look up what stores replaced the old legacy ones and walk around in them lol

I was just thinking about Blockbuster and how that place smelt lol. This sounds weird, but I loved the smell inside Blockbuster lol, popcorn mixed with candy soda mixed with fresh new movie releases. With some former Circuit City stores that get replaced by other stores, I can tell that it was a Circuit City. Some new businesses that moved into those classic Circuit City stores still kept the look luckily, even if they repainted the building and or gutted the interior. Lol I've always been like that, wanting to wonder in empty buildings that once housed famous stores, sounds like a fun trip down memory lane. There is definitely something about candy mixed with popcorn and vhs and dvd plastic cases in mass quantities that produces that rental store smell. I’ve got a feeling rental stores will come back as a niche thing.

I have that feeling as well actually, because we cant even rent video games anymore, I called the last Blockbuster and asked them if they rent video games and they said they don't anymore.

I’ve got a feeling rental stores will come back as a niche thing. It would be cool if rental stores came back, but in form of local businesses. I think people will get bored with strictly online shopping and streaming quickly. Cd based games I going to last for another 5-10 years or more. Also you will definitely have very high definition physical formats, the higher end blu ray market still exists, with Sd cards or cd formats for a while. There is room for that, not everyone wants to own a physical copy forevor or just use netflix. Also once 2000s become old enough, maybe towards the end of this decade or in the 2030s DVDs will be like nostalgic, I'm sure someone will open up a dvd nostalgia place, you can technically do this for vhs movie now.

This gives me hope. At least not all physical media is dead and entertainment content is 100% internet. You’re right that not everyone wants a physical copy forever. We need a healthy technological balance back in the 2020s. DVD nostalgia based stores would be awesome. They still release everything on dvd, actually there should be place that has everything released in rental store from games, blu-ray, dvds, there is no reason not to have everything right now I'm sure there are places in europe or rural cities outside of a few blockbuster and few rental places.
