What movie would you say had the most hype going into it ? The movie itself does not have to be good but rather the marketing and buzz surrounding it's release ? I left out Iron Man and X-3 as well as Hulk...because lets face it.. there was not that much hype with those.

IMO most hyped up superhero movies would be between Batman Begins, Spiderman 3 and Dark Knight. My sister, who was 6 years old at the time, got a Dark Knight McDonald’s Happy Meal toy in 2008 lol. Spiderman 3 was overhyped, sucked compared to Spiderman movies 1 and 2. Spiderman 3 felt like a commercial for people to buy Spiderman merchandise and a promotion for boys to dress up for Spiderman that Halloween lmao. Spiderman 2 should’ve been the last Spiderman movie to come out. Spiderman 3 pushed it and killed the vibe, left a bad taste in my mouth. I used to be a huge Spiderman fan in 2004 when I was 6 years old. I had Spiderman themed blanket, backpack, lunch box, etc hahahaha. Spider-Man 2 is the greatest super hero movie of all time, and because of that the hype levels for Spider-Man 3 were INSANE and off the charts. Dark Knight is up there as well almost tied. But SM 3 OMG that is all anyone was talking about in the streets lol Who remembers this commercial playing on TV every 5 min having said that, the movie sucked and did not equate to the greatest of 1 and 2.

Spider-Man 3 felt like the most hyped movie to me at the time because of black Spider-Man. Everyone was talking about it in 2007. The Dark Knight was a close second

Spider-Man 3 felt like the most hyped movie to me at the time because of black Spider-Man. Everyone was talking about it in 2007. The Dark Knight was a close second in general all 3 Spider-Man movies were the most hyped the decade, but indeed 3 was the most hyped, it was unlike any other movie buzz I have experienced.

Well, Spider-Man 2 and 3 were marketed to hell and back, and both of those movies were being talked about a ton. The Dark Knight also got a lot of marketing. I think Spider-Man 3 and The Dark Knight had the biggest marketing push, but how both movies were received are polar opposites. Spider-Man 3 was considered disappointing by many. Whereas The Dark Knight is still considered by some as the greatest superhero movie ever made. But what really pushed The Dark Knight, beyond just the critical acclaim and marketing it had, was the unfortunate death of Heath Ledger as The Joker, which gave even more attention to him and his Joker. People quoted that movie endlessly afterwards, and they still do. So I ultimately went with The Dark Knight, simply because unlike Spider-Man 3, it was actually worth the hype.

I think Iron Man did get hype, people were interested in seeing an Iron Man movie, and there were lots of ads for it. But even with that said, it wasn't even CLOSE to the level of The Dark Knight. That was easily the biggest movie release of the year.

Here is my ranking of the most hyped 1) Spider-Man 3 2) The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2 3) X-Men / X-2 4) Batman Begins I still think The Dark Knight is a bit above Spider-Man 3. I would say each Spider-Man movie was hyped more and more with each subsequent release.

I remember the first X-men has TONS of hype, it was coolest thing ever. However the movie itself was just average to me at least, if only it come out when we were obsessed with the show in the 90s, it would have been more fitting like a ton of superhero movies. Also because you had a better sense of the universe and characters since the shows and comics were in peak popularity and always played on TV. I'm not even sure there was x-men series then back when the first movie came out, if there was, it definitely wasn't mainstream like earlier years.
