2014 felt almost equally close mid to late 2012 and early 2016 at the same time, the first half just slightly more to 2012 and the end slightly more to 2016.

The general attitude is similar to 2012 but most of the culture was pretty mid 10s just like 2016

Hard to say but I'll go with 2012. Non-tropical house EDM and the hipsters were going hard in both years.
First half of 2014 had a bit of early 2010s energy left, while the second half of 2016 had incoming late 2010s influence.

It was closer to 2016. The mid and late 2010s are a lot more similar to each other than the mid and early 2010s.
