Usually, years that end with "3" are the completion of a decades identity.

I’d say no later than the “3” year if by “com into their own” you mean when a decade becomes distinguishable from the previous one. I feel like the 90s were here pretty much in like 1992-93. Same for the 00s and 10s, 2002-03 & 2012-13 already seemed so 2000s and 2010s respectively

Same for the 00s and 10s, 2002-03 & 2012-13 already seemed so 2000s and 2010s respectively IMO the 2000s and 2010s came into their own in the 2001-2002 and 2010-2011 season respectively. The way things are looking, I think it might be 2022-2023 for the 2020s though, maybe even 2023-2024.

The 2020s are unique. This decade is going to be nothing like the late 20th century decades or the '00s or '10s.

I don't believe the 2002 part was a part of the core 2000s, but 2003 was. IMO 2011-2012 was the first core 2010s season, so the 2012-2013 season was already core 2010s from the start. 2002 seems very core 00s to me... Nothing from that year could be mistaken for the late 90s, unlike 2000 and early 2001.

Nothing from that year could be mistaken for the late 90s, unlike 2000 and early 2001. Yup, 2002 as a whole was very distinct from the late 90s.
