I hear sometimes people using this term "Web 3.0" which isn't an official thing so I'm curious what seperates this from web 2.0 and when we shifted into it.

IMO the shift into Web 3.0 was the mid/late 2010s (2016/2017). I'd basically describe it as social media and the internet becoming fully integrated into pop culture, and celebrities blowing up due to their careers on it i.e. influencers.
Also streaming taking over as the main source of TV and movies (streaming culture started in 2013 but IMO it didn't overtake TV until 2016.)

Not really tbh, social media and video streaming for example, is very associated with web 2.0. I feel like we're just using an evolved/"improved" version of web 2.0 if that makes sense (and I guess, a change in culture).
IMO, the internet of 2007 is still much closer to today than 1997.
