I thought this might be an interesting idea for a thread. Which movies are, in your opinion, overrated and not as good as people make them out to be? I can think of quite a few, although I will just stick to one for now: Avatar (2009):
Often regarded as one of the best movies of the 2000s (due to it's stereoscopic cinematography and basic premise), I personally found this movie to be a real slog to watch and it wasn't particularly riveting viewing. I feel as though the overall quality of the plot was sacrificed, due to the extra emphasis on the 3D cinematography. If it wasn't such an technological advancement in the movie industry, I highly doubt that it would be as fondly remembered or appreciated to the extent that it is.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) bored me to tears. Everyone thinks it's a work of art but IDK maybe I'm too stupid to get it. The aesthetics were pretty and every review mentions it, but seriously, that can't be it, can it?

I wasn't especially impressed by Patton. I guess it's a pioneering biopic, but it just feels far too long for its rather simple web of themes and minimal plot.

This might be a controversial opinion, but I don't understand why "Gravity" (the 2013 movie that stars Sandra Bullock) is so critically acclaimed. I thought the plot was incredibly cliche and far-fetched. It actually annoyed me when the main character walked away from the wreckage unharmed after reentering the Earth's atmosphere.

Bumping (because I actually was just about to make this thread)
I find La La Land so cringey and overrated.
