I remember 1987 and 1988-1989. Lots of the stereotypical 80s cheese was there, I did notice this among my parents when they brought guests people could be more pretentious in the 80s and many wanted to look like they were always having a good time put more effort into having the look, there was this vague almost manufactured happy cheesy vibe in general, and to some extent in the early 90s, but it wasn't like too happy.

I think the 1980s had the AID’s epidemic which may have carried into the early 1990s. The 1980s strike me as a conservative, clean-cut family-values decade. The early 1990s might’ve been a transition phase from pretending to have a good time to getting real and raw. The pretentious attitude and cookie cutter pretending to have a good time thing continued in the early 90s but it wasn't as cheesy as the 80s, I don't think it was a matter of transitioning, I think people were naturally growing tired of having to keep up with expected manufactured social norms and aspects of 80s among other things. The height of the AIDS epidemic was mid 80s to the mid 90s. As a kid you are sheltered from that world but there definitely was a uneasiness and fear surrounding the topic all throughout the 90s and a lot of movies made during this time about it, but it was one big dark and scaryy aspect of that time period but I don't remember it being the main focus point of the late 80s-90s. 80s were conservative but also liberal in a lot ways but there weren't as deeply conservative as they were made out to be pop culture still included outrageous, and androgynous fashion, there weren't strict limits on classic edgy 80s movies which were often targeted to kids and adults ex Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice, the same movies would later include spin off cartoon series and toylines and things like eccentric pop, punk, new wave and sleazy hard rock, hip hop, house music that weren't in line with it as well. It's just that there was something manufactured, a bit fake, and conservative about certain aspects of the suburban north american culture and politics and atmosphere at the time, but there was still enough authenticity and liberal aspects to make up for it. That stripped down, raw, natural vibe strongly associated with the 90s, that was in contrast to the typical 80s, started around in the end of the 80s, in a weird way it existed at the same time as the stereotypical 80s. By 1989 you sensed it more, and in some ways things were already very close or already there, but it peaked in the early to mid 90s.

I remember 1982 to 1989. My favorite 80s years were 1985 to 1988. During that time, I use to watch music videos on MTV and VH1 with my mom and siblings. Music videos in the 1980s were the best. I remember the fashion too. I would wear little kiddie versions of them and children's 80s fashion. Fun times.

I also asked about a particular subject not how your exact age or how older you are compared to other users. I don’t think being older in decade alone makes you necessarily more of an authority on it.
