How come tech, trends, nostalgia, fashion don’t last long?

Is it because of the internet? People get bored easily? Pop culture has become fragmented.
Now a days, people seem to frequently upgrade their technology devices every year or 2 which seems too much imo. Back in the 2000s, people were a little more patient, waited 5 to 8 years to upgrade. People seem impatient today.
