I also want to know if it’s reminiscent of that time. I’ve read several remarks comparing the rock music charting now to something that a person would hear in the early or even mid 2000s.

That kind of music added to edgy vibe of the early and mid 2000s. Tbh I miss hearing stuff like that being played in stores instead of just throwback or trap pop now a days. I heard Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” play in a boba shop back in April or May 2021. Who would you say the equivalent of the early 2020s pop punk and or rock artists would be to that the early 2000s? I mean if artists like MGK and Olivia Rodrigo would be the equivalents of Three Days Grace and Evanescence? MGK and Willow Smith being played is the equivalent to it, back in the early 2000s tho it was "more" in your face, like almost every movie soundtrack had to have pop punk in it as well as commercials, by the mid 2000s it seemed every tv show theme song had some fake pop punk track

No comparison. I'd say there are more parallels with the early 90s, which had a lot of throwbacks and the 80s were lingering past their welcome.
