Right now I'm feeling:
2000s > 60s > 1990s > 2010s > 70s > 80s > 1920s > 2020s so far > 30s > 50s > 40s > 1890s > 1900s > 1910s
Or something like that.

The 20s aren't perfect but anythings better than the soulless overly corporatized dystopian hellscape of the 2010s. So far the 20s has been all about trying to revive the spirit of previous decades(mainly the 2000s) and there's a bit of a rejection/backlash of the 2010s zeitgeist which automatically makes it better. I too hope that pop punk grows in influence and dominates the charts so that music can have soul again.

What even are people going to be nostalgic about? Constant trap and EDM music? Narcissitic social media culture? Highly advanced smartphones being everywhere? Depressing flat design UIs? I'd do anything to be born like 6 years earlier. The 90s and 00s were way better and had soul.

1. 2010s (way better than what people give it credit for) 2. 1990s (Very chill compared to the 80s and 70s, and also very contemporary. The fashion of this period is timeless for the most part. Love the gen x culture of the 90s. It’s also the decade I was born in) 3. 2000s (I enjoyed my childhood in these years. However, the things going on in the real world at that time were pretty crazy) 4. 1980s (love the music, culture, and aesthetic of this decade but the real 80s were pretty violent, drug ridden, greedy and bigoted outside of what we see of the 80s in media. This makes me put the 2000s over it by just a bit) 5. 1960s (a very interesting and iconic time in history, pretty unique, but so turbulent. I wouldn’t really wanna live in this time) 6. 1970s (Nixon, cocaine, violence, horrible economy, and way too much polyester during this decade. Blegh) 7. 1950s (the one Im the least interested in rn)

People will be very nostalgic for the 2010s in the years and decades ahead, especially considering how they were relatively good times compared to the 2020s, which will likely be defined by the pandemic, economic depression, and political polarization for most if not all of the decade.

Hipster culture was corny as hell. And it doesn't seem to have much of an identity. I can't tell if it's the snapback shades look or the dapper 50s look. Sure the 2010s was peaceful which is the only thing it has going for it but it was a little bit too peaceful. Hardly any big technological innovations unlike the 90s and 2000s. Nothing interesting in pop culture, just complete boredom and soullessness. Soulless electronic overly processed music with autotune, soulless marvel movies, mediocre games, bland fashion, depressing aesthetics, narcissistic social media, etc. It's like a filler decade.

One of the posts above inspired me to also give some justifications.
1. 2000s (Yes, nostalgia is definitely a contributing factor, but I also find that it's a generally underrated decade and deserves more praise for the things it got right. By far my favorite decade for tech design and fonds. I love the campy fashion. I gravitate towards towards the decade's hits the most. In an era where seriousness and pessimism rule surpreme on pop culture, the decade's cheese factor is so refreshing.)
2. 60s (Specifically the mid to late 60s, the early 60s were pretty crappy and hurt this decade. I absolutely love mod fashion, even the dorky men's styles but especially the women's. 1966 is possibly my favorite year of music of all time. The sexual revolution and the rights for minorities were also very admirable. I also love the style of animated TV shows during this time before things got really cheap after it. And this is also where cinema really started to become ambitious.)
3. 90s (I don't think this decade was particularly fantastic in any area, but it was damn consistently good for the most part. I think the fashion was pretty forgettable on the whole and tech designs were pretty bad. But there are other things I love a lot about it, from the diverse music to rave culture to the 16-bit era to campy indie movies to the cheesy blockbusters. Plus I have the vaguest of nostalgia for late 90s pop culture which I adore otherwise.)
4. 2010s (It's a mixed bag that we probably look more favorably to as the years go by. But I really liked its inclusive culture and vaguely its "anyone can do whatever they want with the internet" culture. I also do love the pop culture in its first half. But I have to admit the decade fell completely on its ass around 2016-2017 which is a shame. And while on the whole the mainstream pop culture wasn't the greatest, I do love how easy access lesser known music, movies and shows were comparatively to the previous decades).
5. 70s (This is another underrated decade in my opinion, which is ironic considering pop music doesn't seem to want to let go of the damn thing 30 years on. But I found that there are so many aspects of it that are completely forgotten nowadays, like the aftermath of the sexual revolution to the occult resurgence to B-cinema golden age to mid-70s pop oddities. Trying to read about this decade's culture is always bound to surprises and as a result fun to do.)
6. 80s (A very overrated decade. Its noxious popularity might be the main reason of some of my disdain, but there are definitely aspects that I dislike about it. I really adore the early MTV era (1983-1985) and some of the late 80s underground movements, but besides that I don't think it was a particularly impressive decade for music. I really don't like most fashion trends past the early 80s, most of them look so bad. I also strongly dislike how it socially went back to 50s traditionalism, and sort of undid the sexual revolution of the 60s-70s. And yuppie culture just makes me want to puke. That being said I sort of like the ambitiousness pop culture had back then, which redeems it over the following decades.)
7. 1920s (I'm gonna be generic and say I love this decade's style. The Roaring Twenties were a gorgeous and iconic era. It still looks like a futuristic decade even 100 years on and that's mighty impressive. That being said, the decade didn't produce enough pop culture products for me to explore more, as I'm not huge on silent films and pre-swing music.)
8. 2020s (I just hate the COVID era, it's such an unpleasant time for anyone no matter how great pop culture is behind, which I don't think 2020-21 were anyway. 2022-2029 have to be mindblowingly great to even redeem those two years.)
9. 30s (The Depression era was ten times worse than the COVID era will ever be. The horrendous racism and classicism certainly didn't help either. That being said, I can't deny I love the style of Old Hollywood, the Swing era and this is possibly animation at its best and most gorgeous. And this is also where modern fashion starts in my opinion, and I really like this decade's styles as well. As bad as a time it was to live in, it produced some solid and extremely underrated pop culture.)
10. 50s (Eh... There's always an air of tightness and plainness radiating from this decade that just chases me away from it. Never cared for most of the movies, don't really love most of the music. Fashion was alright but not great either. I just don't care about this decade whatsoever. TV shows were possibly this decade's saving grace, but I never made my way to explore this. It's so boring and dull everytime I want to explore anything else about it.)
11. 40s (I like this decade for most of the same reasons as the 30s. Except it's bogged down by World War II which is extremely and traumatizingly gruesome, even 80 years after to look back on. It also gets pop culture-wise into 50s-style genericness in the later years, which isn't great either.)
12. 1890s (or "The Gay 90s". This decade pretty much invented the modern understanding of a cultural decade. I kinda like the cheesy Victorian fashion. It's also fun to explore fun to explore where cinema and recorded music first started as a novelty.)
13. 1900s (A pretty forgotten decade. This is the decade where first wave feminism started with the Suffragette movement, the first domino in a chain of events that will profoundly shake things up on a societal level during the 20th century, so it's admirable in that way. Many cute ragtime tunes were also composed during this time. And the short early movies are also more digestible to explore than the 1920s Silent movies.)
14. 1910s (The decade I have the least amount of positive things to say, besides the fact that the later years started to transition away from the Edwardian era and into what will be later known as the Roaring 20s.)

I am telling you this as someone who was there in the 90s, HIPSTER by far the WORST sub culture I have ever witnessed, the worst pop culture era of ALL TIME in recent memory. Nothing in the last 30 years pop culture wise was as bad as that mid 2010s peak lightbulb coffee shop hipster era. I need to take a shower, that era was disgusting and I feel dirty even thinking about it
