What trends define it?
Kid culture now doesn’t seem as huge or cohesive as the early 2000s. They seem more social media and technology influenced. It feels like a mishmash of short-lived social media challenges and trends with political touches.

It feels stuck in 2010-2011 or 2013, I can't tell the difference between kid culture from 7 or 10 years ago and today, on the surface it looks the same tbh.

Honestly I thought I was the only one who felt the same. Even most of the stuff that is coming out now could’ve came out back then and would’ve been just as successful, except for maybe the LGBTQIA+ content. We still had cable tv though, and I think that is a big difference. Everyone watched the same shows cause there weren’t as many options. Disney channel and Nickelodeon don’t have the same hold on kids as it did in the 2000s.

Well, 10 years ago YouTube wasn't an entertainment titan on children media the way it is now. In fact, 10 years ago users under the age of 13 weren't even technically allowed on the platform. Nowadays, YouTube Kids exist and some of the most viewed videos and channels on the platform are kids-oriented, sometimes questionably so. And it's kind of major, since YouTube basically replaced conventional TV channels oriented at kids.

When I think of 2010-2013 kid culture I think YouTube skits like Annoying Orange and SMOSH, games like Angry Birds and Minecraft, and shows like iCarly and Victorious.
2018 to now kid culture is different, it's focused on social media "influencers", memes, and games like Roblox, Among Us and Fortnite. There's no shows that come to mind.
Also I know Roblox has been a thing since like 2007 but I think it really blew up between 2013 and 2017.

My 11 year old cousin won't stop playing it lol.
