I feel like throughout the 2010s and into the 2020s, the world has been getting more serious. The 2000s seem more light hearted in comparison. There were more comedies and people didn’t discuss heavy topics as much. This also might be because I was a kid, but I don’t think that’s the only factor. I also feel like the 2000s were more superficial. What do you think?

We are living in absolutely horrifying times to be living through. It's really hard to laugh these days about anything, at least for me personally. Life is like watching a dystopian horror film that never ends.
The 2000s and 2010s were like a dream compared to now.

The world is a shit show, but for once, I am pretty at peace with myself, which I feel like I deserve after years of struggling with mental health issues. Sometimes I forget how horrifying these times are. It has become so normalized. My heart can only ache for the world so much. Sometimes I just have to shut it all off for my own sanity. I feel very fortunate to be in the position I’m in. I haven’t lost any family members or friends and I have some financial security. I spend everyday helping people because I work at a food pantry. At least I know I’m doing my best to help. That gives me peace of mind. Also, I did a brief social media detox and started reading. So yes, the current day is very sad and serious. But that honestly just drives me more to do good and the world and fight against corruption and inequality.

I feel like 2022 is a possibility that the world will start to shift to the positive at least in baby steps and things have the chance to slightly improve and move towards the better while the current new decade will feel more distinct and Covid hopefully will start to gradually decrease or become better handled.
It’s all about focusing on the positive, you can only dwell on the negative for so long. My gut feeling is that 2022 will :
Be more easygoing and start to slowly go back to normal more and more even if it’s baby steps . Tech will get better, it’s not going to get worse, things usually progress Pop culture will feel more distinct from the 2010s than 20 and 21, and feel more exciting and refreshing. Movies will continue maintaining high quality at least to some degree or feel like an improvement from the last decade in certain respects Annoying or long in the tooth trends will fade more or fizzle out New trends will be more newsworthy

Glad to hear you are in a good place personally even if it feels like the world is burning to the ground. That social media detox also likely did you a lot of good. People don't realize how toxic social media has become.
