December 31, 2029. Exactly 8 years from now.
What do you think things will be like almost a decade after COVID hit? Technology, politics, music, etc.
Just for fun.

Politics? We're going to see liberalism come back in full swing in 2028 like how it happened in 2008 with Obama.
Technology? Hard to tell since it has been stagnant for so long. Self driving cars is an easy guess. AI technology becoming the next big thing maybe with them taking over jobs, AI pets, AI gaming, AI music, etc. I also believe video game graphics will look exactly like real life with the release of the PS6. Pessimistically metaverse and people putting chips into themselves could be a reality.
Music? Electropop revival in the late part of the decade probably. Even now only about a decade away from the early 10s everyone is so nostalgic for it.

I don't know if the world will still be around in 2029 to be honest. If it is I predict it will be VERY different from now. Many changes that will make it hard to even say what will come by then.

Hopefully it's still legal to be a liberal or legal to question the authority of the Southern Baptist Church in America in 2028. I think that's a big question mark as it sits right now. It's possible if not likely by the end of this decade, the USA will be a third-world country ruled by a religious cabal. Theocracy has never been more popular in the US since the 1950s and the days of McCarthyism. Hopefully once the pandemic is over, music and films will see another golden age. I've been doing a lot of studying of the 1930s lately and despite the depression, that really was a golden age for both music and movies. Dance music will be popular but hopefully it's not an electropop revival led by people trying to imitate Lady Gaga. Hopefully it's something new. Once again though, it's likely the church will crush this in it's tracks if things continue down the path they are currently headed down.

The last time the church was attempting to influence society was boomer parents wanting more censorship around violent rap lyrics, gory video games and satanic heavy metal music in the late 80s to early 2000s along with fringe Christian groups in the 2000s complaining about a sinful societies and LGBT people and Christian rock bands in the mainstream around the same time. People have been progressively losing touch with traditional Christianity especially since the 1960s while the 1990s onward seem far more disconnected from it. Even in the 2000s atheism debates were very popular.

Even in the 2000s atheism debates were very popular. The Christian Right is more powerful now. Yes they are losing numbers but due to various issues, they dominate politics and their dominance is increasing. Abortion is going to be illegal in much of the U.S. Next, the GOP is likely to push for a federal ban. Same-sex marriage is likely next as well. Gender transition may be illegal in the near future. Fear over the moral and cultural decline of the USA and loss of traditional values keeps people voting Republican. Also the gun issue is huge. The GOP attempted to stage a coup and so far has gotten away with it, and they are expected to take back power in November of this year. Trump is a shoe in for 2024 unless he dies or goes to prison. And Trump destroyed the U.S. economy, but the media is pinning it on Biden and most people think re-electing Trump would be good for the economy. The economy is like a ship and you really can't judge a POTUS on the economy until near the end of their first term. We are still in Trump's economy. I believe we will see a complete collapse if he comes back to power.

I believe we will see a complete collapse if he comes back to power. How are they more powerful now, right wing is now more liberal, less religious, less homophobic and less racist, more rationalist than it was was 15 or 20 years ago when neo-cons had power and lingering 80s social conservativism was still felt everywhere you went, not just a few places. How do they dominant politics other than anti-vaxers and a few laws in a few bible belt eras in mid west/south which are probably unrelated ? Abortion all across North America based on what though? Same goes for gender transition and gay marriage. Its not likely maybe in some weird dystopian movie scenario in the mid west or south. Boomers are dying, old school conservativism is NOT the same as MAGA/new center-right, they are not that extremist and out to destroy all LGBT people, many/large amount are liberal on the subject, infact there are even lesbians, trans and gay people are who are still trumpers/new right, so this isn't accurate, also many people who believe in trump and new right ideas have been losing faith or abandoning their beliefs since around 2019. Hard to know if he comes back, but he's not going to impose religion, anti-abortion and anti-LGBT like a dictator or an old school conversative if he does, its unlikely, he might ruin the economy/country, maybe...

I noticed 10slover referred to bchris and slashpop are "girls" out of nowhere, and then later deleting after is absolutely intolerable, random harassment. No way can I see that as a slip up or joke at all. Apparently someone reported the comment or deleted it, but 10slover seems like he got away with it and is still posting. Such language should NOT be acceptable on Popedia and is never okay to call someone girls, also considering that bchris is gay, which is a derogatory insult.

Fairly sure it was along the lines of "calm down girls" or something like that. It's just funny Twitter language to refer to when people are having a cat fight on the internet. It does not assume anyone's gender nor is it a derogatory term, just terms from queer people themselves bleeding through common internet lexicon like say "snatched".

It is not cool. 10slover said the "girls are fighting.” He would not have removed the comment if it wasn't offensive or an issue. 10slover did not say “calm down girls.” Even if he said that, it’s still unacceptable. Slashpop and Bchris02 were discussing things like they’ve done many times before. They were not cat fighting. Outside of specific types of effeminate gay people who jokingly use certain opposite gender words among friends who are messing with each other or themselves, it is insulting and rude to say that to complete strangers on this forum or to assume they are fine with that language or are a certain way. From what I concur, Slashpop is not actually LGBT and maybe Bchris02 is a buff gay guy or maybe is uncomfortable being called a girl out of nowhere by random strangers on a forum. It is inappropriate any way or to just assume they would be okay with it. Stop making excuses. It is unacceptable.

Weren't you the one who complained about too many PCness in this society and liked it when people could say whatever they want back in the 2000s? The joke 10slover made was pretty tame compared to actual bigoted edgy "jokes".

A huge difference exists between being way too PC in the media and in social issues to an extreme degree that is fake and forced versus flat out randomly insulting and degrading people out of nowhere, then making weak, lame ass, inexcusable justifications that make 0 sense. If you can’t tell the difference, then you aren’t worthy of discussion. It seems as if you like to side with or favor certain people or a have beef. I’m uninterested in arguing with someone defending someone else’s clear-cut insults and pretending they aren’t. Nice try. You’re just being a hypocrite and an ass kisser.
