I'ma go with 2020, ignoring everything that happened that year the music was pretty good.
2021 was pretty bland aside from Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X and Doja Cat.

2021. 2020 still had some gross late 10s leftovers.

2020. But 2021 was great too. I don't know how anyone can dislike music from 2020. It was the greatest year for music since 2013.

I liked 2021 music better. 2021 brought some of that 2019 experimentation and adventure vibe back. 2021 felt fresher. 2020 seems bland and safe in comparison. 2020 had more 2010s holdovers than 2021 did.

I think the year 2020 will be remembered as a golden year for music for the 2020s decade in the future.

2021 just because 2020 shat out this abomination:

I prefer 2020 for music. That was a great year for hip-hop. 2021 was too throwback heavy.

2020 seemed good to me but 2021 was better which is hardly believable for me to say since I think music gets progressively worse every year but then again every year for music has its ups and downs. I see the early 2020s having a more distinct sound than the late 2010s since it was all trap and reggaeton but now it seems like there’s a variety of genres in the early 2020s that are hitting the charts and not just trap. If the pace keeps going like this I would want to say that the early 2020s are better music-wise than the late 2010s.

Both are great years for music, but I'd give the slight edge to 2021 for diversity.
