From a cultural standpoint, do you prefer the y2k era(1998-2001), electropop era(2009-2013) or 20/20 vision(2019-2020) era?
I'd have to go with y2k even though i was merely born in that era. The pop culture is pretty cool and it seemed relatively peaceful.

Definitely not fully there but it's where it started. It's also when Juice WRLD blew up ("Lucid Dreams" was released in May 2018 but became a huge hit later in the year). Travis Scott's Astroworld album changed rap around that time too.

I can't really think of any radical changes in the late part of 2018. There's always changes at the end of a year but the end of 2018 felt very uneventful imo. Even 2019 up until like Q2 not much happened and then boom, tiktok, lil nas x, billie eilish, end of various iconic 2010s series like the avengers and GOT.

It was more melodic thanks to Juice WRLD and Astroworld influence. Ironically Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is one of the 2019 rap songs that could've been in 2017. Probably the last stereotypical SoundCloud-sounding rap song I can think of before TikTok vibes took over.

Most 2019 rap hits in the top 50 aren't melodic and sounds like generic trap rap that could release in 2018.
